Job Summary

Experienced welder must be able to read travelers and prints for fabrication of wire carriers products.
Weld and assemble parts to the instructions on the traveler to customer’s requirements. Compares product with blueprint or other specifications, and makes or directs changes in setup to keep product with specified tolerances. Must maintain a clean work environment. Conducts QC checks to examine parts for defects to maintain qualitative standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform welding tasks using MIG and TIG processes based on project requirements
  • Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings to determine welding specifications
  • Set up, operate, and maintain welding equipment and tools in safe working condition
  • Inspect materials and completed welds to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications
  • Identify and repair defects such as cracks, porosity, or misalignment
  • Follow all safety procedures and guidelines, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment to support safety and efficiency
  • Work with supervisors to complete projects on time
  • Troubleshoot issues and adjust welding techniques or equipment as needed
  • Ensure all work complies with applicable industry codes and standards

Skills

  • Proficient in multiple welding processes, including MIG and TIG
  • Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and welding symbols
  • Solid understanding of metal properties, fabrication techniques, and heat control
  • Skilled in the use of measuring tools and basic math (fractions, decimals, angles, and tolerances)
  • Ability to accurately cut, fit, and assemble metal components to specification
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to produce high-quality welds
  • Ability to inspect completed work and identify issues such as cracks, distortion, or porosity
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adjust techniques as needed
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety, including proper use of PPE and adherence to safety regulations
  • Ability to work independently and manage time to meet deadlines
  • Dependable, with a strong work ethic and consistent attendance
  • Familiarity with industry standards and codes (e.g., AWS, ASME) preferred
  • Relevant welding certifications are a plus

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to stand for 10 hrs
  • Must be able to lift up to 100lbs
  • Must be able to identify quality control issues
  • Must be able to weld and make quality welds as required by specifications
  • Must be able to read blue prints and produce fabrication with quality results
  • Must be able to read a tape measure
  • Must be able to read caliper’s and use all instruments and setups to fabricate parts
